Badboys (and BadGirls) who have resigned,
were defeated, or tossed into the can in 2006
Midterm elections are still a few months away, but now's a good time to start keeping score.
The Honorable Duke Cunningham. Convicted in the biggest bribery scandal in recent memory. Now residing in federal prison. Replaced by Republican Brian Bilbray.
The Honorable Tom DeLay. Resigned effective June 9, 2006, but the U.S. Supreme Court says he has to stay on the ballot.
The Honorable Bob Ney. Announced his retirement on August 7, and retired right before the elections. Would have faced a tough fight in the November elections.
The Honorable Cynthia McKinney. Defeated in August 8 Georgia primary.
The Honorable Mark Foley. Resigned on September 29, amidst a scandal concerning sexually explicit communication with a former House page. He probably would have won his district easily.
The Honorable Don Sherwood. Defeated in general election; his 5-year affair with a women 35 years younger than he didn't help this family values conservative.
The Honorable Conrad Burns. Defeated in general election. Burns was a favorite recipient of tainted Abramoff money.
The Honorable Curt Weldon. Defeated in general election.
