The BadBoys Babes

Rita Jenrette

Rita Jenrette saw her ex-husband, John Jenrette, go off to prison in 1980.  She parlayed his misfortunes (Abscam) into a tell-all book, My Capitol Secrets and a couple of stabs at being an actress.  She did appear as the star in "Zombie Island Massacre," a low budget horror film.  In it, she does a nude shower scene (still photos available on the Web:  go to Google, "Images," and "Rita Jenrette").  She was anticipating her next low-budget movie, "Aunt Ida's Bikini Shop," which was to be released in 1985.  She played Aunt Ida.  "It's kind of like a 'Porkeys'," she explained.  But no Oscar nominations were forthcoming.   She also managed to pose nude in Playboy.

ABC had plans for a made-for-television movie, "The Rita Jenrette Story," but it got quietly shelved.  She did an episode of "Fantasy Island," a guest shot on "The Edge of Night," had a walk on in "Kate and Allie."  And Rita once dated Dan Aykroyd.

Meantime, Rita wrote some pretty bitter newspaper and magazine stories detailing John Jenrette's adultery and alcoholism.

In 1985, news paper accounts had Rita putting Washington behind her, and finding solace at church, the Marble Collegiate Church of the Rev. Norman Vincent Peale.
