The Honorable Adam Clayton Powell (Democrat-New York) (1967) -- Used committee travel funds for personal travel while chairman of Education and Labor Committee;  improperly authorized clerk hire payments to his wife;  contempt of court.  Excluded;  seated after re-election, fined $25,000 and seniority reduced.  Re-elected after Congressional exclusion, but did not take seat.  Re-elected to next Congress;  Supreme Court in Powell v. McCormack (1969) ruled exclusion was unconstitutional.  New York - 12
